I was wanting to get a gaming pc that wasnt overly expensive. Would it be possible to build one for under 800$ ish? (and i don't intend to be playing and First person shooters on it like cod or BF3)

Great build as it has the new Intel 4th gen chip. This should get you what you need.

It is a strong build, but the 7970 will destroy the 7870.

The best option here is the one tbyeah provided.

It indeed will "destroy" the 7870, but for less money and higher core speeds/boost speeds than most 7970's it would be a better choice for his budget.

EDIT: Although the 8320 is an 8-core processor does not mean it out performs most 4-cores. It is in fact a better over-clocker for it's price because Unlocked Intel chips are getting more expensive, but it would be a waste of money without an aftermarket heatsink.

No, the best choice for his budget is the PC which will perform the best while playing games.

Which, as it stands, is the one I posted.

The 8320 is alright, but rather than getting the 7970 you could have added an aftermarket cooler to utilize the performance capabilities behind overclocking. Here's a benchmark to compare the two. The Intel chip benched is the 4670k, but there really would be no notable difference unless it's been overclocked.

Yes, the i5 is better than the 8320. But a combo of an 8320 + 7970 will give better gaming performance than an i5 + 7870 by a long shot. Fact. There is no dispute here. You may be able to find some obscure case where the latter setup wins, but 99% of the time it won't.

Okay

Maybe above the performance of the 8320+7970, and he also will be running the 4th gen chipset.

EDIT: Actually, I'll stick to the 7807+4th gen combo. OP you can choose either one, they are both great!
