New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez said Monday that he has to defend himself. "I'm fighting for my life. I have to defend myself. If I don't defend myself, no one else will," he said.

New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez said Monday that he doesn't know how long the appeal of his suspension will take. "I haven't gotten any indication of the timing of anything," he said. "I'm so focused on tonight. You know, it's been a long time for me. ... I have an opportunity now to come in and hit in the middle of the line up (and) hopefully get some big hits."

Asked Monday whether he had used performance-enhancing drugs, New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez declined to comment. "I think we'll have a forum to discuss all of that, and we'll talk about it then," he told reporters.
