I'm really not sure this is possible. NYC to LA in 45 minutes means you're going almost Mach 6 - 4,375 MPH at sea level. That's a hypersonic speed and is three times faster than Concorde.

If they do this, I will be impressed; until then, I hold my doubts.

This does sound like a seemingly interesting idea. Though I wouldn't use the method of travel as I would be paranoid of getting stuck and I also have a fear of speeds. Also the picture of the tubes in my mind remind me of the ones people use at banks lol

This sounds interesting, however there would be issues for sure. It's going to be very expensive + some people are going to demonstrate for destroying forests etc.
