You received 5 rep Points, not power. It takes 100 Rep Points for 1 power, which you have 4 of. You you have somewhere in the range of 400-500 points right now. For every 25 posts however, you will receive 1 Rep Power. Hope this clears things up

He gave you 5 rep points to see how much more rep points you need to get another reputation power go to account then reputation then on the side it should tell you.

Go to the bottom of your profile page and click Reputation
You will see something like this

When you post you work on getting Rep Power.

When you receive Rep you get "Rep points" they are not the same as Rep power. For every 100 Rep points you earn 1 Rep Power.

If i was to Rep you 50 once then you would need someone else to Rep you another 50 to earn the 1 Power.

It may confuse you at first but it's extremely simple.
