I have a crappy Dell Mini. With like 1 gb of Ram and like and like some basic Intel processor.

Would Ubuntu be a good idea to download?

I'm assuming you're looking for a lightweight Linux distro? I'd personally go with Lubuntu over Ubuntu, it's lightweight but still functions the same. Porteus is known for insanely quick boot times. Peppermint OS is also quite good.
