Trust me man, I listen to a lot of mainstream hiphop. There are very few mainstream Artists these days with potential haha.

The fact that Kid Cudi is in the mainstream is a great gift, considering most of it is filled with people that don't deserve it. Whatever Cudi says hits hard, and I don't believe he's ever made a bad song.

He does not rap about sex, money, and All that usual mainstream stuff. Instead, he raps about life, his life growing up, his suffering, and does it all with a Cudder flow. He has many fans because they can relate to what he's saying in his songs.

This topic is not about Kid Cudi but I just don't want you to get the wrong idea about real hip-hip/rap.

Every Artist from the golden age, that still raps now have obviously changed, but for the worse. It all about the money now. By an Artist not rapping about sex, money does not make him good, it just makes him less worse then others.

For is a clear line that determines are good rapper from a bad one. There are definitely good artists in the Mainstream but not as good as underground. Yes you can name a few decent rappers in Mainstream but the good ones are still less popular compared to the popular ones for example Tech n9ne > Wiz Khalifa. There still both mainstream but spot the the difference lol.

MODISM wrote You serious? Oh you must be one of those I offended. 80% of todays Artists are terrible... Just remember I rate a Artist on there Beats, lyrics, voice. Not because I hate them. Each man has there own opinion.

I mean have some respect for todays rappers! And last time i checked they have been making some great instrumentals, and some pretty nice sounding lyrics although the lyrics may not have a deeper meaning like they did in the 90's. its because the growth of the middle class teenager who cant relate to the ghetto, drug dealing (in most cases), gang banging etc.

And quite frankly i'm not sure where all this hate for today's rappers are coming from.
Is it because its "mainstream"? back in the day 2pac and biggie were mainstream.

So please hop off every new rapper not from the 90's is gaytrain and think for yourself and actually try listening to mainstream rappers, you may come to like some of it.

Also Jedi Mind Tricks should be on that list and others that I can think of right now.

I do like todays mainstream artists, Talib Kwelli, Jon connor, Joey badass. But what im saying is theres a clear line between whose good, whos bad and whats hip hop and whats not. Please stop telling me stuff I know. I'm referring to the people the don't know anything about hip hop and call lil wayne the king of hip hop.
