I have the i5 3330 and it is sufficient for playing games, I heard that the i5 2500k is good for overclocking if your interested.

I wouldn't see Intel's price point as reasonable, but thats my opinion. However i would say the 4570 is the best from that list, it is the most costly, but its the newest, which offers good power usage and performance. If it was me i'd rather fork out the extra and know i was getting the performance and future proofing.

Yeah I've been looking at some AMD FX reviews and there maybe 2-6 FPS slower, so I might switch to AMD? I don't think $200-$350 for 2-6 FPS more isn't worth it.

Its the old argument between different fan groups would you rather spend more for the slight performance difference and Haswell's new power saving tech or save money.

To be honest i've used new AMD FX series CPU's and i5's and i haven't noticed any difference. Sure benchmarks show differences but i highly doubt you'll notice the small FPS difference or the extra seconds for rendering.

Choice is yours dude.

AMD or NVIDIA is WAY better than anything Intel can offer, but they cost more I believe.

IMO, AMD are better for price and have reasonable good performance.

If you don't know, please don't post.

OP, what other components are you looking at?

And for this AMD vs. Intel gaming CPU thing, both sides will cherry pick numbers until you can't disagree with either. In most CPU-limited games, the Intel option will outperform the AMD competition. In GPU-limited games, there is no real performance difference. If I was going to buy a CPU today, I'd buy an FX6300 because:

-Intel has nothing in the price range to compete with it.
    -It overclocks.
-It's a hell of a lot more fun to have an AMD box at this price point.
-Any CPU-limited game I play will be well over 60 FPS and I don't play any of the games that favor Intel in a huge way.
-I don't care about memory performance and it would have zero effect on what I'm doing.
-Power consumption is not a concern.
-I don't need anything more expensive.

Here are the CPUs I recommend for gaming at the time of posting, from low to high price:

AMD A6 6400K (APU)
AMD Athlon II X4 640
AMD Athlon X4 750K
AMD Phenom II X4 965
AMD FX 4300
AMD FX 6300
AMD FX 8320
Intel i5 4430/4570/4670
========Diminishing returns========
Intel i5 4670K
Intel i5 4770K
Intel i7 3820
Intel i7 3930K

Previous-generation Intel not included. Socket dead; too hard to recommend.

Oh? I should've Googled the best 'CPU' Considering I don't waste my life building computers.
