The Nets just got two good players in the game Center Kevin Garnett and Small Foward Paul Pierce. Do you think that the Nets can win it all this year or go far with this team?

They gave up 3 first round picks to be an Eastern Championship contender for one season. Either way, it doesn't matter because it'll be short-lived.

I don't think they have enough in place to make a run for the finals. Though they have a pretty great starting lineup, it remains to be seen if Jason Kidd can coach this team at a high level.

I dunno, the Brooklyn Nets team.., is the dream team. They have an all-star at every position. The Heat have D-Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh. They have no point guard, and no power forward. The Nets have all of it. I feel like both Paul Pierce and KG will resign with the Nets if they can make it past the second round of the playoffs. The only question you have is can Jason Kidd, an all-star himself, coach all of these elite players.

PS: I'm a huge Celtics fan, so this opinion isn't really bias at all.

considering Paul pierce always shooting the ball and his flat shot, I'd say they make the playoffs but not get to the finals

This was a trade that both teams needed to make, and I'm really happy that the Nets made it. Boston needed to get rid of those big contracts and needed to get some draft picks for the future and the Nets just opened a 2-3 year window to contend for a title.

However, I really don't think the Celtics really made off with as much as people think. Out of the 5 players they received, only one (Gerald Wallace) was a full-rotation player for the Nets. The rest were basically bench-warmers. As for the draft picks, the 2014 pick is basically negligible. The Nets should have a top 5 record so it will end up being like a 27th pick or something. The 2016 pick will probably be similar to the Nets pick this year (22nd) and it's still too early to tell for 2018, but I highly doubt it will be a lottery pick. Even if Garnett and Pierce retire by then (which they probably will), as long as the Nets still have Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, and Joe Johnson, they'll finish in the top half of the league.

So I definitely think the Nets benefited from the trade more than the Celtics, even long term. The trade actually helped the Nets payroll and they're in better financial shape than they were before the trade. Either way, I doubt the Celtics will even be relevant for at least the next 4-5 years or so.

I hope they're good this year. I want my Bulls to have to work to get through the EC this year.
