I've been thinking about whether 'nothing' exists or not.
Basically, let's say that a scientist has come to the conclusion that he detected nothing.
He obviously detected something, since he had a sense that something was there.

I believe that 'Nothing' does not exist, concretely.
It's an abstract thing.
A name for the opposite of 'everything', that inevitably exists and without which, we could not live.
Everything and nothing are clear opposites.
Everything is relative, but nothing is not, everything has to exist, but nothing can not.

So does 'nothing' exist?

Well 'Entropy' is a law (of thermodynamics) that states
the amount of unusable energy will increase.
Unusable energy to us humans we would call it 'nothing'. Since there is a name and a law for it i'd like to think that it is actually a thing and therfore and can not be nothing

If that made any sense to you..

But i'm not sure , i would like to agree with you though.

In my opinion, nothing is something because if there's nothing there that must mean nothing is there. You know what I mean lol

This would be your typical Paradox; and the answer is not simple. Another good question: Does Dark exist, or is it just the absence of light?

This is kind of different from what you are saying, but if someone says that they did nothing, then they did something. If you have to force or make yourself do nothing, then you are doing something. So, that is different from what you are saying, but ohh well.

Edit: I accidentally voted yes, I meant no. :/

I am sure 'nothing' doesn't exist. The way I see it, 'nothing' is the same as cold. It's just the lack of - and in this case it's of something/ anything/everything. We need a word for it for convenience, so now we have 'nothing'.

So confusing O_o
But I do understand what you mean.
I don't think it exists, as nothing is what it is, nothing. So nothing is not there, which would actually be easier to understand by saying, Nothing is there. But that is the opposite of what I think, but it is the way you would say it....

I don't even know where I am going with this now, its too confusing....

Nothing does exist, but we will never be able to detect, or show that somewhere there is nothing.

Nothing is very literally the absence of anything.

Within our Universe, there is always something, there is never any "nothing".

If the Multiverse Theory is true, there is a so called "void" in between Universes, this void is where there is nothing. Where nothing exists or possibly can exist, there is simply nothing, no space, no anything.
