Try uninstalling and reinstalling!
If that doesn't work try just waiting on the next update because it probably just will be a bug in the app!

I'm having the issue of not being able to record and upload videos, but can view and watch them from other users.

I'm guessing it's just an Update which is required. Running Android version 4.0.4 on Sony Xperia Miro.

It's taken a painful time, to either be released to my device platform, or there's something like a bug. Annoying.

Its obviously a glitch/bug report the problem to instagram and they should release an update ASAP
Another alternative would be to delete the app and try downloading it again?
Good luck anyway

After reading comments within the App page on the Google Play Store, I think it's a problem for a small group of devices.

As you said, an alternative way to test is by uninstalling and reinstalling, i'm trying this now, i'll update you.

After re-installing the App, there's no video recording button. There's a difference upon the image capturing button, but it's for still images and once it's pressed and held it just focuses the lens.

I'm convinced that this issue is just for the majority of Android users, or should I say device dependent, as some Android users have this function avalible. Most of my friends with an Apple device have updated their App to the new '3.0' version and are able to view (play) and record and upload videos.

Just an Gyazo snap, from a video on YouTube:

So therefore it looks like us Android users are going to have to wait for an update, which let's us upload our videos. Frustrating to say the least!

Users running 4.0.4 and below cannot record videos. Jelly bean (4.1.2 or 4.2.2 +) Can record videos. You are on Ice cream sandwich (4.0.4) so you cannot record, sorry!

Is there a source where this information is from?

I was wrong in my earlier post! What WeimannTheFiremann said is right! Video playback and recording is supported on all devices on Android 4.1 and higher! It says so in the "What's new" section on the Play Store! If you need a screen shot i can upload one I'm just too lazy just now!

Yeah, could you please provide a screen shot? Getting a new Android device, so can't go onto the Play Store, many thanks.
