I'm black and live in Michigan (southwestern part) as well. The portrayal of black literacy is annoying to me. Because I speak proper English, I act "white." Friends and family say that I'm white because of the way I behave. I find it incredibly ignorant to say someone's acting like a certain race. Race doesn't have a behavior, culture does.
