You could save a bit of money by getting an i5 unless you want to use Hyper Threading or specifically need the extra power for video editing/rendering, Also that GPU could run from a quality 550w or 600w supply saving money there again.

You mentioned having a storage device. If its a system of this budget, make sure you have a solid state drive.

i thought i would just give myself the benefit of getting an i7, especially since almost all the reviews i have read says it benefits in the things that i'm doing. also, about the psu, i thought a lower psu that was more appropriate for this system (specifically that model just a lower wattage) would be cheaper, but at the time of looking on pcpartpicker.com, for some reason that psu was cheaper. also, don't worry about ssd's, my dad gets the from work all the time, i've got one in the system i'm running now

I suggest you stick with the i5 as the difference in performance is only noticed in some games with a 1-2 fps increase and if you don't do any hard core editing and rendering you are just buying it for the name ..

That system won't even draw 500w. You could easily get a nice Hive 550w or a Seasonic.

A higher end air cooler will perform much better than the H100i for less.

The motherboard is just about the most over priced board you can get. It has good features, but for someone like you you're not going to need a thermal armour and super long lasting components.

A G43 Z87 will be sufficient for your needs.

High profile RAM like that is never a good idea.

Do you need a case like that? A HAF 912 would be much better value and would mean yo'd have extra money which you could spend on an SSD.

Read le spoil if you so desire..
I might have been out of the loop for a while, but I'm still able to pick out mistakes in a build. I too am an avid video editor, have been for 4 years now. Trust me when I say you don't need as much horsepower as you think. Really unless you plan on doing a significant amount of 3D work and long renders using multiple programs (C4D, AAE, APP..) then I see no reason to stick to an i5. ALSO, just because you have $2000 doesn't mean you should spend all of it, you simply don't need to. Below I'll organize some parts you'll actually take advantage of. Remember, big numbers aren't always the best and most cost effective way to go.

Total: $1,979.88

If you ask me, which is advisable, this is how an editor and gamer would spend $2000.
