my computer isn't very good and i want to sell it to buy another computer.

how much do you think i could get for my computer and what would you buy instead?

current PC: i7-3770 processor 3.4 GHz
windows 8
memory: 16 GB
Hard drive: 2 TB
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2 GB

Whats wrong with it? The processor, ram and storage are great. The graphics could be upgraded, but thats easily done.

The thing is i want to build my own so that i know whats inside it How much would you pay for my PC anyway.

Agreed, just upgrade. You can upgrade the PSU and graphics card (the case may need to be replaced, assuming this is a pre-built PC) for a graphics upgrade, which you seem to be after.

Speccy or CPU-Z are programs which can identify your board for us. Then we can say whether its suitable. Anyway most boards will take the current hardware.

Cheap OEM motherboards are fine for CPUs at stock clocks/voltages. If you've got a PCIe slot, that's really all you need. If you were going to replace it, I'd be recommending this board:

If you have a PCIe slot then you'll be able to upgrade the graphics, you'd just need to replace your current GPU with the one already in your system. A new graphics card may need a better power supply.
