So I'm going to be heading off to college in a few months and I need to buy a computer for school. I want to get something that I can use for gaming as well as school. I am currently on a Mac desktop, my brother bought a Macbook for college and he is starting to get a little sick of it.

A few of the things I plan on doing:
Gaming (Games like LoL, GW2, and Call of Duty)
Producing Music (it requires a lot of power to run multiple programs for separate sounds all at once)
School Assignments

I'm not sure what my budget will be yet because it's going to be based off graduation money from friends and family.

I have thought of some options though:

Alienware 14x
Alienware 17x

Since Alienware is owned by Dell, I can get a discount through them.
I contacted Origin and they said the only student discounts they can give me are free overclocking and free shipping.
