Teq wrote how can you say that Jay-z is better than Tupac Shakur... fair enough Jay-z is good but in my opinion Tupac was rapping about real events R.I.P Tupac

You must not listen to Jay-Z. Listen to Open Letter, he got in some trouble for traveling to cuba and made a song about it. Real events.

I'm sorry to say, but I'll go with Kanye West. He's one of the most hyped up rappers now-a-days and most of his music does have meaning behind them. Lyrically he might not be the best in some songs, but in general he's the biggest and very well known.

but if you do want to go lyrically, Drake. No discussion there. He can pull of a hard rap song or a smooth rap song and make it sound incredible.

I never like Tupac in general. Biggie is probably my favorite, or Eminem.

In Jay-Z's prime he rapped about the struggle and where he is now. Tupac sent a message through most of his songs to install knowledge of the bad the government was doing. Therefore, the government (illuminati) killed h because he sent messages which made people think.

Now Jay was cold then, but now he's getting to commercialized, especially with his wife and him in the illuminati. Now, he had a few good songs recently like Clique, but songs like BDKMV remix, and Suit and Tie just aren't up to standards.

Here's my top rappers lyrically:

1. Tupac
2. Biggie Smalls
3. Nas
4. Jay-Z
5. Andre 3000
6. Eminem
7. DMX
8. Korrupt
9. Goodie Mob

Don't sleep on, got to remember he has a story behind him. He's not just rapping about drugs, p*ssy, & b*tches. He's an amazing rapper & a lyrical genius overall. If you don't believe me go listen to Section.80 & come back to me.

Are talking about all time? Or just this generation?

If all time, then i'll say Biggie. His songs was more catchy plus no one will flow as him. There are zero songs from him, that i do not like.

In this generation... im going to say Kendrick Lamar when comparing to 2pac. 2pac songs were never based upon metaphors like Biggie and Lil wayne, instead he focused on life. So Drake is too soft for me to pick him because his songs become "eh" after listening to them for a while (besides Fear which is a classic to me)..

J. Cole is close buttt his lyrics can be plain at times. So in this generation Kendrick Lamar is the closest to 2Pac (not better than 2pac). None of his songs are "eh" besides the mainstreams like swimming pool.
