Humanity is one step closer to ending biological aging (technically called senescence) in the species homo sapiens (that is you, in case you didn't know). In the last week, researchers in the field have recently uncovered a link between the Hyperthalamus (has a variety of functions) region of the brain, and the rate of organismal aging in rats (or mice, whatever, same thing). Any thoughts on the subject?

The reason we age and die is because on every DNA molecule there is something on the end of the helix that has no crucial information. After each duplication some of this matter is lost and once it is all gone the cell will no longer duplicate. Thats how we age. It has little to do with any brian functions.

Yes, what I think you are referring to is the Hayflick Limit. With the shortening of Telomeres and all. Although, we cannot jump to conclusions. Senescence is a very complicated process, indeed. What is needed though is increased funding on the applied research, and not entirely focusing on the basic (SENS versus NIH Aging department, for instance).

Its hard to say. Some of these things are impossible to figure out with present day technology and the human body is amazingly complex.

Very interesting, can't wait to see their future research. This would be a very huge breakthrough.

by the end of our lives, there could be a cure to live forever. We could be the generation that lives forever.

Anyone else find that cool as shit?

If you look into the psychology of humans,
We are actually no longer Human-Beings;
We evolved into our 3rd stage so far I believe it is..

The mind is our evolution process,
We do not see with our eyes what evolves;
Only thoughts, & actions.

I think the only way a human can die naturally is just withering and normal use of the body over time...
