Hey guys, i just wanted to know your thoughts on whether a halo pelican, phantom, covenant cruiser etc.. Would be possible? From my knowldge, i know that a pelican is plausible. Harrier jump jets could hover, so attach four of those baby's engines onto a pelicans wing and voila! The only problem is the extreme heat that the thrusters would cause. A phantom on the other hand would be theoretically plausable if we could figure out anti-grav technology. The way i see it, is the gravity is a controlled negative force bearing down on us just enough so that we cant feel it. So theoretically, if you made a positive force, which had the opposite effect of gravity, you have anti-grav technology. The engines are easy enough to make, its just fuel. But it would be amazing if you could recycle the energy used to power the phantoms engines and use it again, without it lying dormant. Kind of like recharging the atoms once they've been used, because energy cant be lost, it can only be converted into another kind of energy. A covenant cruiser on the other hand is just like a mox between a phantom and a pelican. Just on a much larger scale.

First off, I like the topic idea, but you're asking this kind of question on a forum full of 12 year olds. Many are not going to have a clue what you are talking about.

Lets get started.
A pelican is already possible. We have the technology and have seen the concept.

Look at many of today's planes and helicopters and you can see that parts of the pelican's concepts are in the way planes and helicopters work.

We could easily put all that stuff together and make a pelican. The reason it's not being done is there would not be any efficiency.

The pelican looks bulky heavy and slow. We are trying to improve our planes by making them slimmer and faster. Creating a pelican would be taking a step backwards.

Lastly, Antigravity technology is not as simple as that. If it was then it would be done.

There are however magnets repelling each other. Some trains are said to be using/testing out maglevs (magnetic levitation).

The idea is the train rails will have a positive or negative force pushing upwards while the train's under bearings will have magnets with a similar force pushing down.

(I'm sure you've played with magnets before where if you push the positive side up next to another magnet with a positive force they repel, same goes with negative force up against another negative force)

Same thing going on with maglevs. The underside of the train and the rails are never touching so in a sense it is antigravity. As of now this is the best we can do. Or atleast this is the best out there on the news.

Yeah, flying a phantom would be beast, nothing could catch you, but on the other hand, i bet it would look damn sexy to arrive at school piloting a pelican yourself ;)
