Haven't released any software for a while due to work and family commitments, but thought I would show you what i am currently working on.

This is called TransTweet.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Basically, the idea is, to take a foreign Twitter Timeline, pick a Tweet and translate into another language.

I know the picture shows English to Greek, but it is just an example.

It uses the Twitter API call to retrieve any user timeline.

Then uses the Microsoft Translation Service (which was free!) to convert to the relevant language.

Not releasing just yet as the layout is horrible

Also, want to make a Reply option, so if you have a foreign follower that you want to reply in their language, you can do it from here!

Please don't say, just use Google Translate. The idea is that the function will be a little smoother than copying and pasting tweets!

Please let me know what you think.

This is definately one of the best projects that I've seen on here. I also agree with you holding the release due to the layout design since it is a bit unorganized/to plain.

From the looks of it, I take your making it in VB?

Thanks for the compliment!

I'm coding in C# actually, its just I am a seasoned VB developer so the layout looks very much like VB used to (VB6.0 days)

I am going to try and make a Metro app once the code is tidier. Think that will make it look a lot more appealing!

Thats a neat idea! What library are you using for the twitter API? OR did you code it from scratch? Been thinking of doing a program that works with the twitter API for a while..

I'm building is as i go, as i require more of the json timeline data I add to my Tweet object ;)

May not be the most efficient way of doing it, but it seems to do the trick for this purpose anyway

Ok, I have been banging my head against a brick wall for days, annoying the Shoutbox with failed layouts for my app.

This is the latest attempt.

Could I please get some feed back on the layout, suggestions, constructive criticism.

Just need some good ideas.

I will be upgrading to a Windows 8 Metro Style App, to see if that helps with the layout.

The new design looks a lot better than before, nice and compact. The only idea i can think of is instead of having two boxes around the tweets maybe just use one outline for both of them.

That's definitely your best version so far.
The layour overall is pretty good.
Changing the list/combo/text boxes to a rounded finish is a great choice; it seems much more user-friendly than a jagged edge style.

I'm not one to use Twitter but this is quite a good project and is going well so far. Great job! Hopefully your finished version, a metro style approach, will make it look even better.
