Evolution is scientific fact, I thought in schools it was customary to know this but research [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Take a look at this family tree.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The very bottom box is bacteria that's 6 million years old(Us)
We then branched of and we evolved differently to adapt to our environment the left is us and right is apes but notice how both branch of from the same 'Common ancestor.'
Which is why apes have 99.6 percent same DNA which is why we call them our cousins.

Just found this image to best explain what I mean.

I can't really make a comment on the God part since I'm an atheist.

I believe in evolution, but I wouldn't say I'm an atheist. I believe there could be a god, because scientifically speaking, anything is possible. I do not have any religion though. Evolution is definitely a scientific fact. Schools call it a theory only so that they don't upset anyone whom is religious. We have evidence of our own evolution plus countless other species. Do you really think that complex organisms such as humans were created with the snap of "Gods" fingers. All I know is that this is a very complex subject and I do not wish to offend anybody, so don't take my opinion as bashing your beliefs.

On part of me eats to say no cuz I'm catholic... But....

I do believe in evolution. Science has a lot of evidence.. It's kinda hard not to believe in it.

We have tail bones, but no tails? Why is this? It's because a long time ago we had tails.. Sooner or later we will no longer have them.

I learned at one time there were 3 types of superior creatures.. The first died off from a virus, the second and third fought each other until only one remained, the Neanderthals!!

We can't say man...I don't know if history is real or if god is real too? But we can't find out until we die.

I think evolution is a pretty solid idea, it makes more sense to me than religion.thats just my personal opinion on it

Religion is based on stories and faith, science tries to prove it through evidence. like i said before they go hand and hand, just think of it

I'm pretty sure that's Intelligent Design, not Evolution.

Well birds, there evolving to society today. they didn't have to deal with cars along time ago. the changing of there wings was to benefit them today therefore it cant be "smart design"

Evolution takes place over millions of years. Humans as we see ourselves currently have only been around for say 100,00 years and little has changed to our build. Cars have only existed for a century at most, so I highly doubt birds have evolved and adapted to their presence. Us modern humans can't see evolution taking place due to our life span so we can only base this theory on fossils and remains from the past.

I see where you are coming form, but here is me trying not to hate.

1. You are right we do share 50% of our DNA with wheat, but we share over 99.9% with some apes, I think chimpanzee's and gorillas. It's the first 50-70% of DNA that is similar on our planet for ALL living things, hence why we share so much DNA with wheat, it's the percentages after that that count, hence why the 99.9% is so significant.

2. I don't really see what you mean by "further than adapting", however there is fossil and living proof of animals that have evolved to express certain traits for certain reasons.

3. The idea of evolution does contradict the bible, because the book of genesis says that God put all the animals on the Earth as they are now.

Some Christians realise that evolution is pretty much fact, if not fact, and justify this by saying that God put all the animals on the Earth several thousand years ago, and allowed them to evolve or whatever, and that it was God's intention for us to evolve from apes.

N.B. I do not hold any of these religious views, I am 100& atheist.

EDIT: Also, for your information, you may find it interesting to know that we can map our evolution down to cavemen, however we are still searching for the missing link between ape and prehistoric man. Some people believe, personally not me but some people do, that it was the influence of extra terrestrials merging our own DNA with their own, or just modifying our DNA in some way, to help us evolve straight away.

Changes that birds have made due to the influence of modern humans, is not evolution. By majority the changes are all behavioral, but as for a true evolution of a species? No. You are right that evolution takes place for a ridiculously long time.

Quick answer: Yes. Most of the reasons why others have posted.

And to the crackheads who say, "But evolution is just a theory", so is gravity, so go and jump off a building.
