Hopefully I don't get a warning or anything for this but I feel that it is a fair rant.

The moderators or here are far too strict. I've seen many topics that aren't offensive or rule breaking in any way closed as well as many people banned for nothing. I've had a topic about suicide closed which I guess was okay about as it is a little sensitive (I still think discussion of it should be okay) but I recently had a topic titled "Have you ever met a celebrity?" closed. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with a topic like that in the 'general discussion' as it is just seeing who people of met and offers the chance to discuss it. One other problem is that I wasn't given a warning whilst it was active but over 8 hours after it was closed.

What do you guys think? Are the moderators too strict?

No I don't think they are unfair. They do what they can. If a topic is closed there must be a reason. I have seen many topics close that people don't think are against the rules, but they are. Read the stickies they really help out on what is acceptable. But saying they are unfair for trying to keep the site clean is a little over board.

If they see it as spam/pointless or other users see it as spam/pointless and they report it then that's why

I have to disagree. I've seen many topics get closed that are in no way violating any rules.

There are times when the moderators pay attention to the right things but then there are other times when they seem out to just hit anyone that is reported with a warning. Go check the CoD forums right now and i guarantee there are at least 70 rule breaking posts/topics on the first page alone (also includes posts inside each topic). None of these people even get banned for what they do but simple attempts to get a thread closed because of lying and trying to get fake sympathy and rep (back when it had a meaning) was worth the warning?
Mods need to stop looking to go kick the cat and actually pay attention to the people who do break the rules rather than trying to enlighten others.

Mod edit: Please don't talk about warnings you have received!

Admins and Mods have to deal with tons and tons of users every day, they shouldn't have to put up with your pointless crap. Look at it this way, if you make purposeful topics and replies, much unlike this one, you would be warning free.

Well if you think they close topics for no reason then you clearly need to look over the rules yourself.

Most of the moderators are good guys, But some of them can get a little out of hand with the warnings, but at the end of the day there the moderators so what they say goes...

I only agree with this regarding the rule of 'Mini-modding'.

I honestly think people should only get warnings for this rule if they say "This is against the rules, you're going to receive a warning/ban" or something against those lines, not if somebody calls out a ban evader or says something like "Illegitimate hoster".
