I recently moved into a new room in my house, and I've run into some serious issues reguarding my wifi connectivity. I already have a wireless range extender (it's signal strength is pathetic, literally talking ~2Mbps) and my family pays for 25Mbps. The network load on my router is pretty massive, with 4 laptops, 2 xbox 360's, 4 tablets, and 3 smartphones. However, even WITH the range extender, i can't as much as load a youtube video. The connection is unreliable when it decides to allow my devices to connect, and slow when i can. Any advice to remedy this situation?
Note: the router/modem are on the other side of my house, downstairs and on the opposite end of the house.
Another note: i have a Linksys dual band router, and a Belkin Dual Band range extender, plugged into my room.

Maybe get into your router, and try messing around with channel settings? Maybe something is interfering with the whole router and giving out bad signals with that many devices connected to it.

Well first of all when you get on your computer/laptop, try typing this into your URL : 192.168.0.1

It should ask you for a password, and I think by default it will be

Username: admin
Password: password

Once you get in you should be able to change settings like channel type, what speed your router runs at etc.

Well first of all when you get home, try typing this into your URL : 192.168.0.1

I'm at home looking at my router settings right now... I am not seeing anything about channels right now. Like i said, I have a Linksys router, and i'm not experienced with tinkering with router settings beyond port management (i'm the network admin)

Hmm, well usually a lot of routers have settings to change channel settings. Ill give you a step by step guide.

1. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome)
2. When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Wireless Router (The default IP Address is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
3. A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Wireless Routers password (The default password of a Linksys Router is admin) into the "Password" field.
4. After the "Setup" Page loads, click on the Wireless tab.

On the "Basic Wireless Settings" page, there is a "Channel" area, in that area, click on the drop down list and use only channels 1, 6, or 11. These channels do not "Overlap" with any other channels, and will give the clearest signal. Check out a few channels and see which one gives you the best signal, every time you click on a channel make sure you click save/apply settings or whatever is says for you to test them out. Once you've found the one that works best for you your done.

Unfortunately, your advice was to no avail. I couldn't get any better signal in my room. I appreciate your assistance though
