If I were to upgrade to the i5 3570k and NOT overclock it, would I be fine with the stock cooler? also, how much of a difference is there between my i3-3220 and the i5-3570k (no overclocking) like, how would it affect FPS in stuff like arma 3, BF3, etc.

I was thinking about upgrading either processor or GPU, right now I have the radeon 7770 and the intel core i3-3220 ivy bridge.
So, which should I upgrade? (I was thinking about GPU, just want more experienced ideas)

Yes you would be fine with the stock cooler, You could see a difference especially in A3 with the i5. I would go with the cpu upgrade

You'll be fine with stock cooling and I would upgrade the CPU, but eventually I would pickup a better GPU if you ever want to play more demanding games.

The biggest difference would be in BF3 campaign. I'm pretty sure Linus illustrated very well in one of his videos that dual-core CPUs cause you to visually lose one of the AI following you around in the single player campaign. Arma? Don't know much, but I know that it's all about graphics. To be honest the first step here should be upgrading your graphics card, making sure your PSU can handle it. Really the difference a 3570k will make in games you're playing is minimal; keep the i3.

You'd benefit more from a video card upgrade in terms of gaming rather than a CPU upgrade.
