Correct they were in your place once.

But after 3 hours learning to do what you did there, they looked up how to use C4D for stuff other than Motext.

You need to work on lights, materials, render settings....for starters.

Maybe have a look at learning to model within C4D also.

Very basic. BUT, without the basic you cant do anything so keep learning and you will be great.
