Greetings ..

I can tell you right now that you NEED to be as fit as possible before you join up.
If you can run (YES RUN NOT JOG) non stop for 3 miles in boots (NOT TRAINERS) then you are on the right track ,If you cant then you will NOT like the first 6 months of your army life one little bit.

Don't join it for the sake of it. Have a look at other options in life, otherwise join it.

Running for 3 miles in boots is not a requirement....

It depends on what you want to do in the Army.

Do you want to be on the frontline, Technition, bomb disposal ect...

I wont be joining it for the sake of it, I have wanted to do this since i was like 12, I would want to be a frontline soldier. Maybe an officer, but I will look into this a lot more, but for the time being I will focus on getting myself in shape before jumping into it. Because you never know what might happen, but with the way the economy is going i wont be getting a job in IT which is another thing i want to do.

First off ,Just get used to going the distance (3 miles to start)
Learn to pace yourself
99% of everything done in the army is on rough terrain so practice your cross country ALOT

Advanced ....

Get a rucksack and fill it with weight (to start with one 2ltr bottle of water and some cloathes). Wear the rucksack when you run..,They get you to do this in the army but when they do it they fill your rucksack up with sand (which is evil when it gets wet) so ease yourself in to it asap...

DO NOT RUSH INTO DOING TO MUCH AT FIRST !!...you will do more damage than good.

Don't expect to go to training camp and have them work on your fitness. They expect a certian level of fitness and training when you arrive.
