When PS2 was the hottest thing I remember being blown away by the graphics and game play and thinking "Wow, this is the best it's going to get!" And now we have the 360 and PS3.

Just because you can't imagine a better console doesn't mean it can't happen. If they can produce a console that's twice as good as 360, then I'm game.

Imagine Fallout 4 with a map 4x the size as Fallout 3, and 10x more in depth. Better console means better games.

Yeah but developers dont have that big of an imagination. Look at skyrim its so bare on consoles and the dialogue was terrible couldn't be into it that long. If the rumors are true about the next gen consoles then you are wasting your money because if it breaks you have to buy all new games again.

Im sorry but this is so ignorant;Game developers have a huge imagination, Your trying to base your theory by one game. And besides newer consoles will probably be able to support games with larger sizes, Like every xbox 360 game can only support 5.7Gigs or something around there, or maybe it was 8Gigs.But with the new xbox being able to support bigger game sizes, they can put more time into the coding and actualy do more with a game Just look at every past console, The reason some games have 2 disk is because there is so much room token up by coding for some campaigns. The next gen xbox will be able to support more.
You are wrong xbox 360 games support 7.5 gigs because gta is around that size. I'd rather they just upgrade the xbox 360 with better specs because there is nothing wrong with it. Plus that not the only game Gta IV could of been even better if they took some from SA. The consoles are just an excuse to get rid of really great ideas. For example skyrim's bend will shout was worthless even for riding dragons because you don't really ride one. I just feel that games meant only for the pc should stay for pc unless its like Witcher 2 where they keep everything

Your arguing for our point basically, if they upgraded the current Xbox, like you said they should, to something twice as good or 3x as good it would be the Xbox 720. If they only made Skyrim for PC then they would have lost 86% of their sales ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ) To say they should limit there audience by 86% is the reason your argument should be invalid. Most games today are pushing the limits of the 360, hence why most games come in 2, or 3 discs. As a gamer, I'm shocked that anyone would appose better games.

There is really no point for a new Xbox but if they want to make another let them fail because we all know there is going to be problems the first year it comes out. IJS

Yeah we do need them. The Xbox 360 is outdated, we need something new.

The current generation consoles have been out for about 8 years now.

We are able to upgrade and now is the time to do it.

Ya, we need them. Not even because they're outdated or it's been too long. We're just pushing the limits, doing a simple console upgrade would be ineffective. One day, every ignorant child who is saying they should make another Xbox 360 will learn.

Quick example how this would fail:
-New 360 comes out with better hardware
-Old 360 incompatible with new games.

Derp. You're holding back the gaming community.

Mass Effect 3 was roughly 12 GB, Had 2 disks. They could easily increase disk sizes, graphics, capabilities, etc.

Consoles can't support FULL 1080p
PS3 can for the most part, but since games are generally developed for the Xbox and ported, which is what causes a shit ton of bugs on the PS3, it holds the playstation back.

So since you now realized that you're technically playing in 720p, we still can go to 1080p.

Imagine having insane physics in game. Explosions in 1080p will be amazing too.

I can't see 1 reason why it would make sense to leave the current consoles as the main ones.

Yes. There are three reasons why a console should be launched every 5-6 years.

1. Better graphics
2. More complex games
3. Innovation

New consoles will provide better graphics. Believe it or not, even PC gaming has been held back due to the fact that the studios usually develop on consoles and port their games to PC. If we have new generation consoles, that means better graphics.

Secondly, even though we've kind of reached a graphical plateau, there still is the possibility for more and better AI, better textures, higher frame rates and resolution (60fps @ 1080p, similar to what PC's have now), bigger maps, more elements on screen, etc. The current consoles are about 7 years old. It's time for an upgrade.

Thirdly, innovation. Innovation occurs most at a new console launch. It's a time when new features come out on each console, so that they can stand out from the rest of the consoles. Virtually every innovation in console gaming, including motion control, DLC, online multiplayer, party chat, in-game chat, the analog stick, etc, etc, has come out of a new console launch. Not only that, but there's new IP's. A new console launch gives developers the opportunity to launch new IP's or series. These new series have been lacking as the consoles begin to show their age. A new console launch brings up the opportunity for developers to step their games up and bring something unique to the table. Just this console generation, we've had a lot of new IP's, including but not limited to:

- Bioshock
- Gears of War
- Portal
- Left 4 Dead
- Dead Space
- Mass Effect
- Alan Wake
- Uncharted
- Killzone
- inFamous
- The Last of Us
- Dead Rising

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. However, lately, new IP's have been starting to become scarce. We need a new console generation so the innovation can continue.
