When PS2 was the hottest thing I remember being blown away by the graphics and game play and thinking "Wow, this is the best it's going to get!" And now we have the 360 and PS3.

Just because you can't imagine a better console doesn't mean it can't happen. If they can produce a console that's twice as good as 360, then I'm game.

Imagine Fallout 4 with a map 4x the size as Fallout 3, and 10x more in depth. Better console means better games.

Yeah but developers dont have that big of an imagination. Look at skyrim its so bare on consoles and the dialogue was terrible couldn't be into it that long. If the rumors are true about the next gen consoles then you are wasting your money because if it breaks you have to buy all new games again.

Technology is advancing so fast now they will become dated pretty fast, but the hardware at the moment doesn't compete with PC's (IMO). The current consoles are a stable platform to build on, but the hardware needs an upgrade.

Plus with the latest TV's there is a lot more we can get out of the graphics. Also the new console allows the companies to upgrade their existing consoles, i.e. Microsoft could add the Blue-ray drive they can also patch any loop holes in their hardware which can be used as an exploit.

I'd prefer the 360 to keep the same design, but have better spec's making for better quality visuals and gameplay.

Same goes for ps3

Yes we do need new consoles. Why? Because the current gen consoles are 7 years old, they are holding PC back, game developers have maxed out the current gen consoles, console games are nothing compared to PC exclusive games. Have you noticed that call of duty campaigns are getting shorter because they are concentrating on the multiplayer and graphics.

Don't trust rumors, trust facts. Going by the facts of the past...forever...the tech we have now will be out dated soon. I think that a lot of people would argue against Skyrim being bad, and I don't think you know what your talking about when you say davs lack imagination.

Im sorry but this is so ignorant;Game developers have a huge imagination, Your trying to base your theory by one game. And besides newer consoles will probably be able to support games with larger sizes, Like every xbox 360 game can only support 5.7Gigs or something around there, or maybe it was 8Gigs.But with the new xbox being able to support bigger game sizes, they can put more time into the coding and actualy do more with a game Just look at every past console, The reason some games have 2 disk is because there is so much room token up by coding for some campaigns. The next gen xbox will be able to support more.

You are wrong xbox 360 games support 7.5 gigs because gta is around that size. I'd rather they just upgrade the xbox 360 with better specs because there is nothing wrong with it. Plus that not the only game Gta IV could of been even better if they took some from SA. The consoles are just an excuse to get rid of really great ideas. For example skyrim's bend will shout was worthless even for riding dragons because you don't really ride one. I just feel that games meant only for the pc should stay for pc unless its like Witcher 2 where they keep everything
