Hey everyone, I'm looking for a 24" monitor, mainly for PC but also for use in Xbox LAN tournaments. Can anyone recommend some, and also link me to a shop that sells them?

If possible recommend a few monitors, as some of them may not be available in New Zealand.

Thanks,
Lycan

Not really sure how much they are.. Probably up to like 300 usd.
I can spend more if need be, just need to know how much they usually are. I'd rather not spend more than 300 if it's avoidable though.

I choose this based on 2 things that I wish my monitor had when I tried to use it with my 360.

1. A HDMI port - I have to use a dvi to hdmi adapter with mine and I constantly lose it lol.

2. Speakers - I have to use a headset with my 360 to play on my monitor and it sucks having to wear it 24/7

And it has;

1. 1920x1080 resolution
2. 1ms response time
3. An LED backlit screen

Thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate it

Just wondering 2 things...
Firstly, what should I be looking for in a monitor? I don't know the differences between LED LCD and that sort of thing.

Also, are there any other good ones you know of without built in speakers? I have to play with a headset all the time as I play competitively, so it seems like a bit of a waste.

Cheers,
Lycan

PS: Any and all suggestions are still welcome

I don't really know the difference either, I just know led looks better and consumes less power..I think lol.

In a 24 inch monitor you should be looking for at least a 1920x1080 resolution, 5ms or under response time and a hdmi port.

Here is a good monitor without built in speakers.

But I'm telling you somedays you might just want to sit back without your headsets and play, unless you have some reallllly comfortable headsets.

Got Tritton AX Pros, TB X11s (X11s are sooo much more comfortable than AX Pros) and about to buy Astro A50s. I'm pretty used to wearing headsets for ages, however I think I might get the one with the built in speakers on second thought.

Also, Zwrq thanks for the feedback.

Seems like since you're in NZ we can't really recommend anything specific, but Asus does generally put out good-quality TN panels with matte finishes and good gaming performance. Just realize that the manufacturers' reported response times usually doesn't have much correlation to actual performance. For instance, my Asus VE258Q is infamous for ghosting and it's rated for a "fast" 2ms. I can confirm that the ghosting is really, really awful and I would not recommend it. Luckily I got mine for $100, which I'm happy with.

The speakers that come built into monitors don't cost enough to raise or lower the price. If you don't need them, just don't use them. They sound horrendous but they still output sound and sometimes that's all you need.

Thanks for the advice. To Dasher, I can't get that monitor in NZ and Newegg doesn't ship overseas Any other recommendations guys?
