im sure you can find a password cracker and try to crack it but it would probably take a couple days and hopefully your ipod dosen't disable after a certian amount of tries.

unless its stolen, there really shouldnt be a problem. Itunes backs up your ipad automatically. Just restore it and resync it. It will take like 30 min

If you have OpenSSH or whatever it's called you could SSH into your device and change the password

even if its jailbroken it still needs to be restored. if its not you can not jailbreak it with a password lock. you must restore it
