In my honest opinion, probably not. PC has so many more adaptives to games like DayZ. There would be way too many updates if it were on Xbox.

Maybe the Xbox 720 will be upgraded so it will be efficient enough for DayZ's needs?

The xbox 720 will probably no doubt be able to run it, but a controller isnt big enough to have a button for every action in the game, especially considering the standalone is expected to have more things to do. If they allow you to plug in a keyboard via usb im pretty sure you could play day z on xbox.
