Looking for recommendations on processor and motherboard, two things I know I want is HDMI and 3D but don't wanna spend an arm and a leg of this portion of the build. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Nobody can recommend anything for you because you haven't given a budget and the list of parts you're already looking at.

The Sabertooth is terrible for the money. The Asrock Z77 Extreme4 is a much, much better deal right now and it comes with 8GB of RAM.

So far here's what I'm looking at, open to suggestions:

Case: Corsair Obsidian series 650

Power Supply: Corsair Professioal series HX650 80 plus gold modular

Optical drive: Lite-On 3D Blu-ray/DVD burner

HDD: 2TB. Haven't decided which one yet

SSD: Samsung 840 Series 256 GB Sata 3

Monitor: Asus VG Series VG278H 27" HDMI LED

Video card: TBD

RAM: TBD

Processor: TBD

Motherboard: TBD

As for a budget I haven't really set one, as I don't plan to buy it all at once but plan to get as much as possible with taxes. So yeah open to any suggestions, want the best bang for my buck ideally I'd like to at least reach a 7/10 in a rating

Without a budget I can't recommend you anything at all. Everything is based on the budget, sorry.

It's clear you're after high-end parts, though. You might like this build: Forums/p=29124627.html#29124627

By 3D do you mean you want to use stereoscopic 3D in games with AMD HD3D or Nvidia 3Dvision?

Also, what games do you plan on playing?

I mostly play fps and racing games on console so definitely play the....COD and Battlefield, may venture out more some on games. As far as the 3D, honestly I'm new to it, which is better mostly plan on watching 3D blu-rays but wouldn't turn down 3D gaming for sure what would be your recommendation?

3D gaming is going to cost hundreds of dollars extra. You'll have to shell out for glasses, a 120Hz approved display (for which you sacrifice image quality for the higher clock speed), and a higher-end graphics card to accomplish the same task. So in short, don't go for 3D support if you won't use it OFTEN. When building computers, a lot of people say they will do something but never do it.
