Synopsis

"The world's most popular endless-runner game returns with beefed-up graphics and a bigger monkey"

Setting

The setting for Temple Run 2 has changed from the original. It has moved from a ground based scenery to a mysterious land very high in the sky. The platforms you run on are designed to look very old as it resembles a Indiana Jones 'ancient temple' scene. As you progress through the never ending game the scenery changes to separate terrains and even includes some new features that literally sweep you off your feet.

Setting Rating:9/10

Gameplay

The developers have managed to make the game seem like the original while tweaking some of the games aspects and even how you acquire Points/Coins. I will start on the Powerups. The amount of coins you collect during a run add to a coin bar like in the original Temple Run, but now if you have an Powerup selected like the default 'Shield' if you double tap on the screen your character now has a shield for a certain amount of time. This is recurring as you can collect as many coins as you like (unless you die.) But you need to purchase certain characters to acquire certain Powerups and you also need to level up by completing certain challenges to be able to use some of the Powerups. But don't get confused you can still get Powerups without them selected when you are in the game by jumping into them when they're above you, so they have kept the originals best feature. The Powerups include 'Shield,Coin Bonus,Boost,Score Bonus,Coin Magnet and Gem Bonus.' Gems are well Gems, they are in the game and you need to collect them, they're used for a lifeline in case you die so you can continue your high score. 'Abilities' These are to Upgrade your Powerups so they last longer, give you more points ect. And probably the best part of the new app is the new features. The feature you will notice straight away is the new Monkey, it's 3 times the size of the last Monkeys but there's only one. Right after that you will notice a zip-line that your character latches on too and slides down. This was a big shock to me and is very useful because it bags a lot of points for doing literally nothing. And there's also a mine in the game where you jump into a mine cart and dodge obstacles until you reach 'run-able' land again, this one is quite easy as you just have to duck and turn also gives you loads of points which is an added bonus. I like the way the developers have included ways of not just running all the time which can get quite repetitive and boring, they have switched it up making it so much more addictive than the previous game.

Gameplay Rating:9/10

Graphics

Well so far i have been quite disappointed, The look of the game is fantastic and i have nothing against that but the amount of errors i have seen so far is unbearable. Firstly when you pick up speed you actually start to see things render in the distance which just makes me doubt how much time went into the app. And the amount of lag i have experience and apparently so have many other people so i can verify that the app does need some updating. As soon as that is done i think it could be better than the original.

Controls

It is an app so the game is spent using your thumb(or finger) to play. You have to be quite aware when you play as you have to tilt, jump duck maneuver ect. So that makes it exciting to play, although if you turn while lag is happening it doesn't register causing you to maybe die on the game.

Controls Rating:7/10

Overall

Overall i would say it was an enjoyable app although the lag errors have made it quite annoying to play, but i'm sure when the update comes around it will be a very highly rated app!

Overall Rating:8/10

Great review as always bud
To be honest I enjoyed the first game much more than the second but I suppose there are still lots of bugs to be ironed out!
