Ok, all I have to say is banning assault rifles is the smart thing to do. Why should an individual have an assault rifle anyways? It's not like we're going into war. A pistol for self defense is enough. 1. They don't deal as much fire power as assault rifles. 2. They have a small magazine size, and fire rate. The bane should only ban AUTOMATIC rifles, which is in fact, not even right for a citizen to have in possession. A pistol should be plenty to defend yourself from a police officer, robber, or an assaulter.

How about that would work out, ban the guns.

Europe has no guns, now look at most of our economy, wealth, happiness, criminality levels and all of that.

Even if it's for a womans self-defence at night.
If a man is willing to go that far, he usually won't back off for a woman heavily shaking from adrenaline with a gun in her hand whilst barely being able to pull the trigger.

Thanks for being able to defend your rights. Most of these people are afraid to for some reason. They live in this dream world where they think nothing in our country can go wrong.
I mean when the US's noses is all these countries throughout the world, why wouldn't they attack us someday when we are weak.
Oh well, I guess we'll just have to see what happens.

I came here and read the butthurt war. It was amusing. On topic, I could careless if they ban guns or not. I don't own one. My boyfriend does though. Then again, he owns a shotgun. But nonetheless, I don't see why anyone under the age of eighteen should own one.

Agreed, nothing is added to society as a whole by having guns. People will always kill people, why give them an easier way of doing it...

It's because they are taking away our rights.
Why can't you see that when I have a weapon, I will be able to defend myself when the time comes. You only see the bad that comes from people abusing guns.

There's virtually no difference between a "assault weapon" and a regular weapon. They do the same thing, either will kill. It all depends on the person using the weapon, obviously goes for almost anything.

Automatic weapons are already illegal in the US, which means you can't get one LEGALLY. So guess what that means, criminals are the people who will have possesion of these weapons, if we ban assault weapons, criminals will get them either way. There's no stopping it.

Nobody is saying they want to ban all guns either it's just automatic assault rifles that they want to get rid off ,Your second amendment is still safe.
A pistol is all you need for personal protection and a rifle or shotgun is all you will ever need for hunting !.
Assault rifles are for going to war with and as none of you live in a war zone i don't see the problem you have with the idea of tighter regulation.

Even though people like to bring it up, personal protection has nothing to do with this. It's a secondary matter. The primary matter is if the government and/or military step out of line. If they do that, this could easily become a war-zone. If our government goes against the Constitution, we have every right by the Constitution to protect it. The Constitution is above any law made by Congress (which is why it's there.)
