I do not know if this was already posted, I would assume that it has been but to be on the safe side I am posting it again.
Notch has stated in a tweet on New Years that Herobrine is not real and never was real. I will link the twitter but you will have to take it upon yourselves to scroll back to December 31st to see the tweet.
