Basically, I think if this topic, or something similar, was stickied it would help a lot of people to not get scammed. It seems everyday more and more people sign up to this site, get 50 posts, then scam and people actually complain. So here's a few things to do before you buy from someone.

How not to get scammed written by TheRedManc.

1. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

It's an old clich but it's true and if followed you'll probably end up saving yourself. If someone comes on and opens a shop selling 100k for 6GBP and they want you to pay first the chances are it's a scam. Sure, if someone is highly vouched and has run the shop for ages you should be more inclined to trust them, but never ever trust ridiculously good deals from relative 'newbies'.

2. Never let someone with no vouches go first.

Ah, vouches. I have a few myself and if I do go on someone's wall and see vouches from reputable members I'll trust them a great deal more. If someone is demanding to go first straight off the bat with no vouches get the hell out there. In my opinion going first in a trade is something that should be earned, you don't just walk into the forum demanding everyone goes first, you trade with reputable members and ask for a vouch in return.[/font]

3. Even if you have to pay extra, use a trusted member.

I like to think of myself as a sort of trusted member. I've done deals with 5/6 people all of which have gone successfully. I think the almost guarantee of getting your product is something which should allow trusted members to bump up their prices in the slightest bit.

If Caldwell was selling Gold Membership for 60k or someone with 400 posts was selling it for 40k you should choose Caldwell because you have a much, much higher chance of getting what you want with someone with vouches, trust and a good reputation. What would rather be, 20k down because you bought from someone legitimate and still with the Gold you wanted, or 40k down with no Gold because you tried to save yourself a few coins.

4. If your not sure about someone but really want to try it, use small volumes to prevent big loss.

In a situation like the one above I'd pull out, but if you feel you really must do the deal do NOT trade in full volume. If I wanted to buy a million coins off somebody and I wasn't sure if they were legit yet I still wanted to try I would buy 100k, then if they are a scam I've only lost 8, not 80. (prices are examples).

5. Don't go first with a new member.

Self explanatory, if you do buy anything off a new member going first you deserve what you get.

Will add more.

Don't really expect to get a sticky, if Caldwell has a better one I'd much rather his was used.

Also, don't know why the 4th title is spazzing up.

1-3 and 5 are common sense. 4 is hard because there are no trusted members on this site.
