There is a theory that Mona Lisa is a self portrait of Leonardo Da Vinci.

I disagree with this. I believe it is far more plausible that the Mona Lisa is a painting of his male lover, Salai (Gian Giacomo Caprotti).
Comparisons made on the facial structure, especially the nose and mouth, reveal incredible similarities to other Leonardo Da Vinci paintings in which it is known that Salai has been Leo's model and inspiration.
Salai worked with Leonardo for 25 Years and was probably more than a friend to him which may be why he painted him with a hint of feminism.
Whether Leo was actually homosexual or not is discussion for another time though.
