Well as most of you know nothing will happen. But to those who believe in it they may take there own life! I'm scared to watch the news on 12/22/12. I was watching something on discovery and these guys are jumping off cliffs because they believe a portal will open and they will fall through it and "save" the world.

Yeah I know! It will be extremely sad! I remember I was watching BIO and when the Y2K thing was going to happen this small town had a mass suicide! 30 people would rather die!

Yes. Even though this is proven not to happen, people who have brain problems and mentals illnesses will make December 21st a mass suicide. It will also be very sad for their families who will miss them around the holidays.

I really do hate it when people call others crazy or moronic for fearing an end of the world prediction, especially one with this much media coverage and pseudoscience backing it up.
A friend of mine today was crying her eyes out because of the prediction and how it would affect her family.
She couldn't stand the thought of seeing her parents and sister killed.
This is not crazy. It's basic human function to fear the unknown.
I tried my best to reassure her and it seemed to calm her down.
Although I don't think she is the type of person to commit suicide I will definitely be keeping an eye on her.
I agree that taking your own life when faced with death anyway is rather illogical, but do we really have to resort to calling them crazy or moronic?
