I've tried everything and my laptop wont from my ISO disk. I downloaded Backtrack 5 R3 - Gnome onto it and it's fully burnt. When I put it in my laptop and use it to boot with, it doesn't. It just comes up with Windows 7. I've re-arranged the boot options in the BIOS menu to boot with it first but it still wont. I've also tried extracting the files from the ISO and putting those on a disk.... same problem. Then I tried putting the ISO on a memory stick and booting with that. All I get is a '_' in the top left a few lines down with nothing else and nothing happens after that.
I have the 64 bit ISO because I have a 64 bit system.
I am using a Dell Inspiron N5010.
Someone please help.

go into bios when the computer is first starting to boot and select boot options and move either the disc drive or usb depending on what you are trying to boot from up in the boot order above the HDD . if that has failed try making the usb bootable either by selecting that option when formating it in windows or use pendrive linux to install the image to the usb, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Thanks, I had tried all that but it didn't work. It turned out the disk image wasn't burning as a disk image but as a data file. Then I had to manually fix the operating system using commands because "startx" would take me to a blank screen. All sorted now.

Yes, but my laptop wouldn't boot with a USB because it was bugged. Anyway, I have hundreds of blank disks, lol. ;)
