I'm planning on building a PC, I have all the components, but I was looking on cpubenchmark, and I found a processor with a better rating than the one that I had selected, AND, it was cheaper.First off, I had the intel core i5 3570 @ 3.4GHz down on my list. But after a quick look, I have found that the AMD 8150 8 core not only more powerful, but also cheaper. Would you recommend getting that instead? Or would you still go with the i5. I would really like to be able to turn on the computer and use it straight away without having to wait (I have a laptop with AMD Athlon x2 at the moment and I hate it!)

Many thanks

i5 are a really reliable proccessor for gaming and performance, if i was you dont get the AMD because my friend has AMD and has nothing but problems because of his proccessor!

That's what I was thinking. I mean, all the best computers pre made use Intel, and that's probably for a reason. The i5 3570 has a super rating, but so does the AMD.

Get the I5 2500k/3570k. Don't go for locked CPUs, You can push them to completely slay the FX chip. Hell an I3 is still better. Post your build.

AMD and intel are all in preference, sort of like cars or televisions. From what I can tell, AMD is a more cost efficient, but still powerful processor. intel is more powerful and probably better in some aspects. The way I look at it, if you want to save some money (or invest it into another pc part), then go with AMD. If you have the bread to spend, and want somehting with more power than you will probably need, then an intel will do you good.

Just to recap. It's all preference. I have an AMD and would buy an AMD for my next pc because it's cheaper.

They're roughly the same price, I still wouldn't go with AMD (at this price point)If he can afford the I5 chip do it! Hell the I3 is still better for gaming than the FX chip (cheaper too).

I don't care for either one over the other, and it's not all in preference, at least it shouldn't be. Once AMD comes out with some good CPUs for high performance, then it could be down to preference, but right now intel is just destroying AMD (in CPUs).

Yeah, the Fx series CPU's get trampled over by the Intel CPU's, the i5-3570k is probably the best Intel CPU out!

Screw the 3570 and go with a 2500k. Even though it is 2nd gen, it still is unlocked and a favorite among builders

Why go for the 2500k instead of the 3570k?

There both unlocked, the 3570k has a higher stock clock, and it's got newer hardware.
