My aunt bought a laptop a couple of years ago. after a few months after she bought it the laptop stopped working so she assumed the charger went bad. she bought a new battery and charger and it was fixed for a day. she let it charge overnight and the next day the laptop was dead again (no power, no light indicating power, nothing). I checked the dc socket and there seems to still be power, so I think the motherboard is fried? does anyone know a fix for this for someone on a budget, or is the laptop ruined?

i don;t think your motherboard is fried. i think you overcharged it which caused the battery to fry.

I dont know. I didnt own it. My aunt did, and she gave it to me. I dont think it overcharged because it will not work with the battery out of it (pluged in directly in the wall), she bought a new battery and new charger and none of them work. When the charger is plugged in, it shows no lights like it is suppose to. When I looked it up online, they said that means something is wrong with the motherboard.

If you know how to safely remove the back panel of the laptop to check, do that. If not, take it to a shop or a friend.

did not fry your battery, your power port (if it's even called that) is broken and needs to be replaced. Basically, where you plug it into is broken and it cannot give power to your battery.
