First off, hopefully this topic doesn't start a flame war, but I really want to know what people think about rap these days.

In my opinion Old School (80s-90s) rap is by far better, with Tupac, Biggie, Easy-E, and the list could go on, their lyrics meant something for the most part, their flow was out of this world, and they played the game like no other. One example of that is that Pac would literally make songs, but not but them out unless certain circumstances arose, like he told his people that if he died one way, they need to put out these songs, and so forth. That to me is just amazing.

I don't totally hate Present Rap, but some of it is just terrible. Don't get me wrong, I was a Tyler fan for a bit like most of you, but have you actually listen to his lyrics?

Let's compare lyrics for a second:

Tupac's Keep Ya Head Up,
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women

Tyler's Rella,
Please let me flex, I'm going off I need some ****' bread
Drugs are green, my bitches white and tonight I need ****' head
Excuse our swag, I'm tryna tone it down like Jenny Craig
Fresh to death then I guess we looking like the living dead
Oh shit, yo bitch, look at how I'm doing you
Bitches on my dick but look at me I'm **** beautiful
***** tryna figure out, but all I hear in my interviews
Is why this so cool? You ***** are so unusual
Wolf Gang, point me to a ***** I should prove it to

Old school had substance New school is all the same about doing women, drugs, etc...

Some rappers now that I like Kendrick Lamar, who is from Compton so mostly raps about growing up there and those problems, or MGK who grew up in East Cleveland in Shaker Heights, and raps about all the stuff he had to deal with there and the poverty and so forth.

Sure the older rappers still have some of that old school in them but Nas, Eminem, HOV, 50, Dre, Snoop and others are just getting old and dying out of the game unfortunately.

Just a little note: If you're looking for a pretty good rapper thats relatively underground and he's for the most part a real rapper look up Talib Kweli, you might know him from "Push Thru" which featured Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y.

I could go on forever on this topic but I'd really like to know what you guys think about this.

So Comment with your thoughts and opinions on the matter and also hit up the poll with your vote.

Please try to keep the flaming down just respect other peoples opinion and defend yours.

Well it depends on what people are listening too.
Like of course Tupac and Biggie will poop on almost all current rappers but there is some rappers I prefer over them.

Like A$AP Rocky, Big Sean, and Wale.

Definetly old school rap, I only found out today that Nicki Minaj is a rapper and Lil wayne is just awful. but sometimes I.ll hear one or two good current rap and think thats not bad.

Ya I agree that with what you're saying but I'm basically just making generalizations from a select few, I do believe that there are some good rappers out now...

I honestly would have never liked rap if all the new artists never came along

Plus alot of the newer rappers inspiration came from tupac and biggie so part of what rap is today was influenced by the old school rappers

Ofcourse Rap is going to be about Drugs, Women, Money, and Life. That's Rap...

But now-a-days hip hop is ridiculous.

Back in the day you used to be about lyrics and how you talked about it.
Now it's all about the beat. You can say the stupidest things and people will still like you. It's pathetic.
