IMO it is because of the drought in the US. (Hint the super hot weather)
As corn is used for fuel and the drought is causing for less development of corn than usual.

Gas prices are not because of HOW MUCH gas there is, it's about Politics and the Arab nations.

Gas prices being high aren't really a conspiracy.
Gas is high, because the US and most of NA get their gas from the Middle East. In the Middle East people aren't stupid, they're greedy just like they rest of us. They know they have almost total control over the oil industry in most of the world. They know that if they don't keep supplying the oil though the US will most likely start a war with them and that would get the world no where, and they'd probably loose control of the oil. So they deiced to just raise the price, because we aren't going to stop using the luxury of driving.
