Ok so i am getting my broken desktop back that only needs a new harddrive to run so i decided to upgrade alot of the stuff in it if i can so can anyone please comment if i could just upgrade a desktop or does it not work that way?

I dont have my computer specs because i dont have my computer with me atm its at my friends like i said i get it monday.

It wasn't pointless, I was giving you advice on what you should do. Isn't that what you wanted? Just post it there and wait for like a day. Someone (like root_b33r) will come in and answer it, and you will get much better results than posting here.

technically you didnt give me advice to go post in that section as i knew that and have already did. its just that i needed to know fast and there may have been a chance that someone knew about it that is reading general discussion so therefore i posted it into general discussion. You didnt have to post since you obviously dont know but yet you posted saying go to a different section.
