Very much agreed. screw spending that amount of money on an alienware when you can build/have one built for half the price and runs 10x better!!

Custom build the pc! Do not go with alienware nomatter how sweet it looks, its a ripoff. Custom build could run you like 500-1000

Define "decent," please. There's a difference between a decent Minecraft machine and a decent Battlefield 3 machine.

Never, under any circumstances, should you buy a laptop for gaming. You can split the price in half and get a custom gaming desktop that will thrash this laptop and a laptop that's actually good as a laptop.
