Evan is painting a stool that has a cylindrical seat and four rectangular prism legs. The seat has a diameter of 14 inches and a height of 4 inches. Each leg is 4 inches by 4 inches by 18 inches. How much area will Evan have to paint? Use 3.14 . Show your work.

Marna wants to store 150 cubic inches of homemade pasta sauce in a food storage container. Should she choose the cylinder with a radius of 3 inches and a height of 6 inches, or the cube with a side length of 5 inches? Explain.

Celina is buying fabric scraps to make koozies for her glasses. Each glass is cylindrical with a diameter of 4 inches and a height of 6 inches. The koozies will cover only the sides of the glasses. What is the amount of fabric she will use? What does this amount represent? Use 3.14 . Show your work.

Here, I'll give you the answer to #1. You might want to check it though. r=radius, h= height.

1)
r=d/2 r=7
SA Cylinder= 2 (pi r(squared)) +(2 pi r)h
SA= 2(3.14*49) + (2*3.14*7)4
SA= 307.2 + 175.84
SA= 483.04

SA Rectangular Prism= 2a+ 2b+ 2c
SA= 2(4) + 2(4) + 2(18)
SA= 52

Total Surface Area= 535.04 (I don't know the exact unit, since I use the metric system)

2.

Volume of cylinder = pi*r*2*h or pi*16*6 or about 301.44 in
Volume of cube = s or 5 or about 125 in

So since the cube cannot hold it she should use the cylinder!

3.

the surface area of the side of a glass is
A = D H = 4 8 = 32 in = 100.53 in
