Anyone aware of what the Baghdad Battery is?

Ok, so essentially the Baghdad Battery is a crude source of electrical power, which was used by the egyptians(with help from aliens in my opinion) to build tombs, and the pyramids.
Now tell me this, how did an ancient civilization even come up with something like this?
Not possible in my opinion, but its definately freaky, so if they didnt make it, then who did?
