Basic Information (NEW)
The Wii U is Nintendo's upcoming video game console and will be the successor to the wii.
The Wii U was first introduced at a press conference during Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011 (also known as E3 2011) on June 7th, 2011 (The First Day of E3 2011)
Wii U will be the sixth home console created by Nintendo. Wii U is set to release November 2012 but Wii U has been delayed for Europe until December The Wii U is currently estimated to be set at $399 for North America. This has not yet been confirmed but is a highly likely estimate.
New Notables (NEW)
The Wii U will feature an all new gamepad with an embedded touchscreen. The Gamepad will allow players to play
certain games even if their televison is off. During E3 2012, a new more traditonal controller was unvieled which
featured 2 analog sticks. The Wii U will be backwards compatiable with the Wii and Wii U games will support Wii
peripherals (Nunchuck, Wii Remote Plus). The Wii U won't be backwards compatiable with the GameCube as the
Wii was but, games can be purchased and/or downloaded from Nintendo's Virutal Console Service.
The Wii U will be hardcore gamer friendly as the graphics have been stepped up as reported by Nintendo for such titles as AC3, Batman Arkham City and Call of Duty Black Ops 2. This also means that the PS4/Xbox 720 will only have slightly better graphics than the Wii U unlike the last generation.
The Console will make 1080p Game Creation better and more simplified.

Inside the Console & Controller (NEW!)
The Wii U will have a IBM Power-based multi-core processor, Custom AMD Radeon-based High Definition GPU. The CPU is described by IBM as
"all-new".The Wii U CPU will be produced by IBM at their 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, New York.
For the Storage part of the Console it will feature: 8 GB Internal flash memory, expandable via SD memory cards and USB hard disk drives
Slot-loading optical disc drive compatible with 12 cm "proprietary high-density optical discs" (25GB per layer)and 12 cm Wii optical discs.
The Wii U will have an SD Card port supporting SDHC Cards, USB 2.0 Ports (2 at Front, 2 at Rear), Sensor Bar power port (as the Wii had),
an AV out port and HDMI 1.4 out port. Some of the Gamepad's features include: Built-in 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope,
Speakers and Microphone, Front-facing camera, IR Sensor strip, 6.2 inch (15.7 cm) 16:9 resistive touchscreen
Two clickable analog sticks and one D-pad, Stylus, Select, Start, Home and Power buttons, A/B/X/Y face buttons, L/R bumper buttons and ZL/ZR trigger buttons
Rumble, Controller sync button, Bluetooth and Near Field Communcation. It has still to be announced if the controller will be able to play all Wii U games due to it's lack of touchscreen.
Graphics and Audio
As I stated, the Wii U will feature Custom AMD Radeon-based High Definition GPU which will allow it to play on
1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576i (PAL Only), 480p, 480i, standard 4:3 and 16:9 anamorphic widescreen. The "AV Multi Out" port will be supporting composite video,
YPBPR component video, S-Video (NTSC consoles only), RGB SCART (PAL consoles only) and D-Terminal (Japan only) as well as
"AV Multi Out" port. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.
More Features
Nintendo Network is Nintendo's unified network infrastructure similar to the Sony's PlayStation Network and Microsoft's Xbox Live. Nintendo Network is available on the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U. On the Wii U, Nintendo Network provides the means for online multiplayer, video chatting (achieved by the using the Wii U Gamepad's inbuilt camera), as well as digital downloads. Nintendo Network on the Wii U will use a user account system much like the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. One Wii U system can contain up to 12 user accounts.[74] The user account system on the Wii U will replace the previous friend code model that was used on the Wii. Nintendo Network can also be used as a means to achieve Wii U and Nintendo 3DS connectivity.
The Wii U's eShop will be Nintendo's digital distribution store. Available at launch, the eShop will provide the means to download digital Wii U titles, retail Wii U titles, WiiWare titles, Virtual Console titles, and applications. The Wii U's eShop will also allow users to obtain patches, add-ons, and expansions for both retail and digital games.
The Wii U also contains an integrated social network system called Miiverse. Miiverse is directly integrated into the Wii U's system menu and can also be integrated into games and it can be accessed at any time. It allows users to chat with one another through text as well as through video (using the Wii U Gamepad's inbuilt camera). Miiverse will also allow users to share their achievements in supported games.
Nintendo is working with Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and YouTube to bring streaming digital movie and television content to the Wii U.
The Wii U GamePad can also be used as a universal television remote with a built in guide, even when the Wii U is off. This will allow users to use the Wii U GamePad as a means to switch television inputs, browse through channels, look through channel programming guides, and turn the Wii U console on.
