According to Tim Schafer.

"Those systems as great as they are, they're still closed", Schafer told Hookshot. "You have to jump through a lot of hoops, even for important stuff like patching and supporting your game. Those are things we really want to do, but we can't do it on these systems. I mean, it costs $40,000 to put up a patch we can't afford that! Open systems like Steam, that allow us to set our own prices, that's where it's at, and doing it completely alone like Minecraft. That's where people are going."

Holy ****! I wonder, is this a set price or do different publishers pay different costs? How is the money split up? Does Sony/Microsoft receive the entire amount or are there other parties involved?

I understand its alot for small games companies but for companies like EA/Treyarch, 40k is nothing considering the millions they make...

I'm sure other companys would get some money but that's probably about right, that's alot of money for the Call of Duty franchise to spend

I would imagine it is different for example if a game developer wants to fix a small bug it wouldn't coat 40k

I could understad why its so high of a price.
It incurages game developers to try and get it perfect the 1st attempt. But that never happens so Microsoft make billions.

Remember its a buisness
