There are many reasons not to buy the piece of junk until it has all the problems fixed.

1. Disc drive not opening.
So many people have complained. My xbl friend is on his 4th slim. The problem occurring with the disc drive is Better right now. If you have a problem with the disc drive #1. making noises. #2. or not ejecting the disc.
There is no wait to call microsoft for a new one. The other problem is scratching the disc. The new xbox 360 slim is more prone to scratching your disc. If moving the xbox 360 slim, You will experience scratching .

2. Disconected randomly.
Some users of the xbox slim has disconected from xbox live randomly with the new xbox slim. The new "Wireless inside of the xbox" has not been a success. I really recommend the old xbox 360. The new xbox slim in my words, is the "beta" section for the slim.

3. (not as bad) Overheating.
The new xbox slim, is to have said to be overheating just like the old xbox 360 pro/arcade/elite. When you get overheating its almost exactley the same, The power brick will stay orange, or just turn off.

I've had my slim for a year now, and it's worked almost perfectly. I travel between my mums, dads and grans every week, and it's pretty durable, nothing gone wrong.

1. Disk drive not opening: Never had a problem with it, and if it's a problem, then get it fixed or use the manual open button on the side

2. Disconnected randomly. Has happened, but only once or twice. Doesn't really matter though, unless you're playing something like FIFA

3. Overheating. RROD HAS BEEN FIXED ON THE SLIM. Overheating is much worse and is a higher risk with the originals. If the Xbox is about to overheat, an automatic shutdown will occur, meaning that there is a very low risk of damage.

I had 3 original xboxs from 2007-2010 and had to replace them almost every year, one lasted about 9 months, the next about a year and a bit, then I managed to sell my last on eBay, but was in poor condition.

IMO, Slim > Original By a MILE

I have had my Xbox 360 Slim 250Gb for a year already. I have had no problems. I have taken it apart twice. These problems are just for people who are not careful with their Xbox or have a bad environment that interferes with Connection(Other wireless devices) and Disk Tray(dust particles).
