A quad-core with 3.6 would be great.

A six-core is better but a quad-core will do the job.

And by the way, do you know why nobody +reps anymore when they are helped?(:

you're better off with a fast clocked 4 core CPU as things are.
If you're using heavily multi-thread apps or doing lots of multi-tasking, the 6 core definitely has advantages, but just for gaming ... not so much. That will definitely change with time, though, I should think

a six core is over kill for gaming as most games only utilize 2 cores and only a handfull of games CAN use 4 cores IF they are available but doesnt increase performance unless your graphics card is bottlenecked by your cpu

I currently have a quad-core.

But get a 6-core for next gen games/future games etc..

six cores is not really used in most games. i would recommend getting the new quad core ivy bridge processors from intel for gaming, but if you do a lot of gfx and rendering, then get the six core.
