Okay, I use a NETgear wireless Router and I use my Laptop only for it; I was wondering how would I put a password onto the Router from my Laptop because somebody else is using my NETgear and is really slowing down my internet speed. As a plus how would I disconnect them from my internet? To be honest this is really bugging me, please help.

What I need?:

-- How to put a Password onto my NETgear from my Laptop.
-- How to remove somebody elses computer/laptop from my internet router.

Please help, i'll +rep!!!

You're going to need to access your router's configuration page, from there, it is pretty straightforward.

Look up the exact model of your router, (should be sticker on it somewhere), and Google "Set WPA2 (model here)." Say I were using a Netgear WGR614v9, I would do this:

You can use WEP if you like, I use WPA because you can set your password to whatever you want, not just a random allocation of characters.

You're going to need your default gateway IP to access the configuration page, you can do that by opening command prompt, typing "ipconfig," and looking for "Default Gateway," then typing it in to the address bar on your internet browser. You can find your default password to enter the page by searching Google for "default password for (model number.)"

As soon as you assign the WEP/WPA/etc. password to the router, it will disconnect all users, and when they attempt to reconnect, they will be prompted to enter a password.

Try 192.168.1.1, see if that works.

If it doesn't, then search for "(model number) default gateway IP" in Google.

For instance, if I search "Netgear WGR614v9 default gateway IP," it comes up within the top results:
